Jim Lisenby, the owner of Pool Bar Jim, was an institution on the island who built a bible of tropical cocktails and smoothies. Jim would regularly get calls from people returning home from a visit to his bar in Hilton Head Island, which led him to create the frozen drink bible he sold. Unfortunately, Jim recently passed away, but his legacy lives on at 10 North Forest Beach Drive, behind the main entrance of Sea Crest.
Walking directions: In front of the building, turn left to crawl into the parking garage below. Diagonally to the right, up a few steps, leads to the bar right at the beach. Or enter Coligny Plaza, walk to the beach, and a quarter of a mile north, note the bar on the left.

More on Jim:

“Pool Bar Jim” (James Lisenby) liked to call himself a bartender, although describing him as one of the world’s leading authorities and connoisseurs of frozen cocktails might be more accurate. Jim began perfecting his techniques and creating his recipes some 30 years ago and has marketed his product with great success at leading resorts throughout the country since then.
Jim has scanned the Western Hemisphere for the past three decades to obtain a verisimilitude of exotic frozen drink recipes. From New York to San Francisco, Jamaica to Waikiki Beach, this entrepreneur has searched for genuine recipes, ingredients, and proper techniques for perfecting the preparation of frozen cocktails.
