The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina is an independent, non-profit theater, bringing all that’s inspiring and wonderful in the arts to the Lowcountry.
The award-winning regional Arts Center of Coastal Carolina is a remarkable showcase for professional performing and visual arts, as well as cultural festivals and educational outreach. This is proof that life on our legendary white sand shores is so much more than a day at the beach.Â
The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina is a focus for all that’s entertaining, moving, and wonderful in the arts. Their goal is to delight you, entertain you, challenge you, and help you explore new vistas. Each year the Arts Center produces five plays or musicals, from concept to curtain call, featuring outstanding direction, superb production design, and talented performers.
Theater Series
Each theater season, they produce five theater shows — including musicals and comedies — in their 349-seat main stage Elizabeth Wallace Theater.
From concept to curtain call, every element of their productions is created in-house: featuring outstanding direction, superb production design, and top-notch progressional performers, many who’ve been on Broadway.
Great Performances
In addition to our Theater Series, they spotlight world-class presenting acts throughout the season. These 1, 2 and 3 night runs of renowned artists have something for everyone, featuring jazz performers, comedians, contemporary music artists, illusionists, International dance companies, and more.
Community Festivals
The Community Outreach Program features a number of free outdoor festivals and concerts, including the Community Tree Lighting, Taste of Gullah and Youth ArtsFest, each featuring local, as well as nationally recognized artists on the Arts Center grounds.
Community Partners
They offer turn-key venue rentals with a fully trained staff whether it’s for an onstage performance to include everything from box office sales to lighting and sound operations; or for company-wide business meetings where they’ll provide food and beverage support and a pre-configured meeting room to fit your specifications. They also love to work with community partners on special pre-show receptions and unique events.
Education Programs
The Arts Center is proud to be a Kennedy Center Partner-in-Education. In ongoing effort to make arts education accessible for our community, the Education Department offers visual and performance workshops, lectures, field trips, special needs opportunities, and Artists-in-Education residencies, creating unique youth and adult learning experiences on site, at school and in the greater region.
Visual Arts
They exhibit youth and educational arts year-round in the Wood Community Room. Additionally, the Arts Center partners with the Art League of Hilton Head to showcase artwork form over 150 local artists in the Walter Greer Gallery.
