Captain Nate’s Oasis is a planned expansion of the Whitewater Reef, which is approximately 5 miles offshore of Hilton Head Island. This reef will serve sports fishermen and recreational divers for many years to come. Honoring long-time Broad Creek Marina employee and Charter Boat Captain Nate Riley who passed away in 2024.
The purpose of this fundraising is to sink two modified 20-foot cargo containers in a new area adjacent to the existing offshore reef. To be known locally as Captain Nate’s Oasis. If successful, they hope to add more containers to the site in the future.
They owe particular thanks to Ryan Yaden, the Artificial Reef Program Coordinator at the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) for his input and guidance; and for supporting the expansion of the Whitewater Reef, in an area to be known as Captain Nate’s Oasis.
