In this video, stingrays in the Calibogue Sound appear to making a move on each other. Stingrays can be found everywhere on Hilton Head Island beaches, especially during the summer season. They are very shy and gentle animals and will swim away whenever approached. It took me a while not to make them swim away as I slowly approached to record this video. When wading into the water shuffle your feet to ensure they realize you are there, as they are busy feeding on crustaceans in the sand.
They don’t bite, but can sting from their tail if threatened. Do not attempt to pick them up.
