John’s Music sells guitars, amps, drums, and sound mixing equipment. It also rents and repairs equipment and offers lessons.
John sold the Hilton Head store to Scott Evans in June 2010 but remains on as consultant, mentor, and general gadabout.
John Plays mandolin, guitar, and ukulele, but his first love is blues harmonica. He favors the songs of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Wells, etc. He has played in various bands around the Island for the last 15 years. John Sturm moved from Pittsburgh to Hilton Head Island 30 years ago. Initially a teaching pro and shop owner in the tennis business, he took over Jack’s Music in 2001.
Scott has been playing guitar since he was 13 and has always loved music and gear, so becoming a music store owner became a great passion. Since the early 1990s, Scott has played guitar in multiple pop, hard rock, and metal cover bands as well as original bands.
