Sea Turtle Patrol Hilton Head Island reports Sea Turtles have laid 237 nests on the island with no more new nests expected. These include all the nests on the Atlantic Ocean main beach and the nests that were laid on Mitchelville and Fish Haul Beach on the Port Royal Sound. Just under 50 nests are still incubating on the island.
Sea Turtle Patrol keeps track of all nests on Hilton Head Island and the different colors of dots and squares on the map are used to categorize and keep track of false crawls, original nest locations, final nest locations, and hatched and then inventoried nests.
When the remaining 50 nests hatch, Sea Turtle season is officially over. Please join us on congratulating Sea Turtle patrol for their hard work of protecting Sea Turtles. They need your help funding the work they do, preserving the species, and educating the public.
