The Town of Hilton Head Island invites the community to its 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to honor the 2,977 individuals who lost their lives during the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Coordinated by the Town’s Fire Rescue Department, the ceremony will feature guest speakers Teddy Krowl and Chris Norris.
Krowl, a Marine Corps veteran from Flushing, Queens, New York, dedicated 34 years of his life to Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY). He began his career in January 1982 as a firefighter with Ladder Company 11 and retired in 2016 as a lieutenant with Ladder Company 32 in the Bronx.
Norris began his career with FDNY on June 26, 1982, when he was appointed to Engine Company 214. After nearly 24 years of service, he retired on January 26, 2006, as a chauffeur (driver), leaving behind a legacy of dedication and commitment to the FDNY and the people of New York City.
The ceremony will pay tribute to the bravery of first responders, the resilience of survivors, and the strength of communities coming together in the face of adversity. Bells will toll throughout the event, followed by brief periods of silence. These moments of reflection will coincide with the times of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and aboard Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania:
